St Ives to Penzance

St Ives to Penzance is the most remote section of the South West Coast Path and offers some challenging walking (daily distances have been kept short because of this). Its rugged path hugs the coastline around Cape Cornwall and then down to Lands End which is the most westerly tip of Britain.

The Saints Way

The Saints Way is an ancient trail taken by pilgrims voyaging from Ireland and Wales on route to France, in order to avoid the dangerous voyage around Lands End. The Saints' Way crosses mid-Cornwall from coast to coast, starting in the fishing port of Padstow in the North and finishing in the busy sailing, fishing and commercial port of Fowey in the south.

Plymouth to Exmouth

Plymouth to Exmouth is a great walk taking you first through the area of Devon known as South Hams. This area consists of slate cliffs, sometimes quite rugged, cut through by drowned mouths of wooded river valleys. The second stretch from Dartmouth to Teignmouth is quite different with mostly low red sandstone cliffs. It is known as the Riviera and includes the tourist towns of Torquay and Teignmouth.

A gentle walk starting from the source of the Thames down stream through England's countryside and history including the great University city of Oxford and finishing in Pangbourne, famed for the rowing prowess of its famous naval boarding school.

It starts in Ilkley, a beautiful Victorian Spa town, nestled in my favourite dale (valley) Wharfedale and finishes in Bowness-on-Windermere, beside England's biggest lake.
