Walks in Cornwall | Walking in Cornwall with Nearwater Holidays

Walking Holidays on the South West Coast Path in Cornwall offer great challenges and wonderful varied scenery.  The path is 280 miles long in Cornwall.   We cover the whole of the path as well as offering some great inland walking in Cornwall.  We are based in St Mawes on the Roseland Peninsula in Southern Cornwall.  We always try and see our walkers who pass through and sometimes they even come and spend a night with us at our bed and breakfast as part of their itinerary.

We have put together some amazing coastal walks for you to review with the choice of organising the walk yourself or using our holiday booking service that takes care of everything - including luggage transfers. If you would like a bespoke or tailor-made walking holiday, please contact Tim Whitaker.

Cornwall walks

Lands End
"Cornwall's Wild West" - St Ives to Penzance is the most remote section of the South West Coast Path and offers some challenging walking (in our standard itinerary daily distances have been kept short because of this). Its rugged path hugs the coastline around Cape Cornwall and then down to Lands End which is the most westerly tip of Britain.
A walk starting in Padstow "The Food Capital of Cornwall" and finishing in St Ives "The artists capital". The itinerary below is for 6 days of walking which we think would be ideal for most people.
The Lizard
Exhilarating Walk around the beautiful wild and secluded Lizard, Britain's most southerly point. The Lizard is almost an island, girded on three sides by the sea and the fourth by the meandering waters of the Helford river, only a tiny land bridge connecting it to the rest of Cornwall. Golden beaches and pebbly coves, dramatic cliff tops, still rivers and creeks full of bird life. Freshwater lakes, open heathland, fabulously hued Serpentine rock outcrops and gardens full of sub-tropical plants warmed by the Gulf Stream, you will come across them all on this walk.
Pendower Beach - The Roseland
This is a mixture of official coastal path walking and interesting local additions along a part of the coastal path that includes fabulous views across bays, rivers and inlets that constitute Cornwall's best sailing areas.
Saints Way - Helman Tor
An old pilgrimage route taken by pilgrims voyaging from Ireland and Wales on route to France, in order to avoid the dangerous voyage around Lands End. The Saints' Way crosses mid-Cornwall from coast to coast.
Starting in our home village of St Mawes this walk leads you along the cliff lined coast past tiny fishing villages, bustling ports and sleepy hamlets to the city of Plymouth. This section of coast provides a gentle beauty with great headlands and secluded sandy beaches.
This is a tough walking holiday for the fit and regular walker. It takes the official coastal path along a stretch of coast that includes fabulous views across bays, rivers and inlets that constitute Cornwall's best sailing areas.
Sennen Cove
This is a 630 mile walk of the entire South West Coast Path averaging 13 miles per day, with 2 rest days, total 54 day itinerary. To do it you would need to be in good physical shape.
The south coast of Cornwall is slightly gentler than those used to the North and West Coasts. Life revolves more around sailing and fishing. During this walking holiday you will get a wonderful view of maritime Cornwall.
