Below is a list of all the pubs and cafes that are right beside the path between Port Issac (in North Cornwall) and Looe (in South Cornwall).  If I had included those within 50 metres of the path the list would have been huge.  As you will see it is quite substantial anyway.  For those who do not know the path it demonstrates that walking the path can be quite a culinary treat as well as an outdoor challenge with wonderful views.     Golden Lion Pub - Port Issac. The South West Coast Path was voted Britain's favourite walk in a poll of 1,000 walkers done by Nation Express. Given the unrivalled scenery and variety we can only agree. The views from Tintagel Castle on a clear sunny November Day.  The remenants of the castle that you see are from around 1230 AD, but the legend of King Arthur stretches back to the Dark Ages (400 to 600 AD) when the headland was used as a stronghold and possibly the residence of the rulers of Cornwall.  Luxury pottery items from the mediterranean area have been found on the site to support these theories, as well as evidence of Roman occupation.  Sadly King Arthur's sword Excalibur has yet to be found!
