As a member of one of this country's oldest Walking clubs "The Straddlebugs" (now 135 years old), I headed up North to Ambleside last weekend to stay at The Skelwith Bridge Hotel. For our walk on Saturday we drove the few miles from Ambleside to Torver and walked up the bridleway to the saddle below Dow Crag, we were somewhat surprised to be passed by 5 motorcyclists on the way up (the path, being a bridleway is also a right of way for motorised traffic!).  We then progressed up the ridge to the top of Dow Crag where we sat out of the wind and enjoyed magnificent views across the Lakes and...
